Finally I'm Able to Get On This Thing

Blogger has been acting weird on me lately, so I haven't updated in a long time. But anyway, I'm here again.

It has been a roller coaster week with lots of crying, frustration, fear, and exhaustion. Of course I went through a 1-week exam, which was not cool at all for me. First of all, I am not the school-loving type. In fact, If I ever have a kid, I'd probably tell him/her NOT to go to school, 'cause most schools kill creativity. Second of all, I never did well on tests. I'm wondering how I ever got a higher education in the first place, cause I do so bad on them.

Then after the exams I had to go to Bandung and Ciater where, instead of a vacation, all the students from the training center had to either perform some sort of routine or become protocols for the big bosses.

I decided to perform cos I ain't gonna bust my ass doing protocol on my vacation! Ended up having fun, though the whole trip left me exhausted.

After that was a whole week of worrying about how well or how badly I did on the test, which I won't find out until the end comes.

I'll just pray for the best. And if the best sux, then it ain't my problem anyway.

Examination Damnation

Today was my fourth day of midterms, and I am exhausted. For four days I have had to study and then go through 2-tested subjects a day with each subject having to answer 4 questions. Four questions don't sound too hard, but when they are four long essay questions that are about topics totally and previously unfamiliar to my brain, they are sooooooooooo f*ckin' difficult!

Topics tested so far:
1. National/domestic issues
2. International Relations
3. International peace and security
4. International economy
5. International law
6. The Vienna Conventions of 1961 and 1963 on diplomatic relations and consular affairs (along with National Law no. 37 year 1999 on foreign relations)
7. Regional issues
8. International organizations (both UN and non UN orgs)

Each of those topics have their own little sub-topics given over the course of five months, so you figure it out yourself.

As for tomorrow, I am studying 1. Global issues and 2. ASEAN + other multilateral issues.

The only consolation I get is that tomorrow is the last day for midterms, and to celebrate, I'm gonna watch Transformers after the exams with friends from the training center and the cool English teacher who taught a class of mine just once (he was a temp). Awesome, yo!

Not bad, and I hope I do decent if not well. I don't want to be the last woman standing. That would STANK donkey ass.

Busy bee

Been so busy that I've been neglecting this blog. Poor bloggy. I'm sorry, baby, but real life priorities are taking over just now.

I have to think of a title to submit for my thesis, and the subject has to do with Indonesia in some way, whether the POV or focus is from a political, economic, or whatever standpoint.

I also have to study for a midterm exam coming up next week. You see, I've been relegated to being a student again, and it is soooo frustrating.

So as you can see, matters that are closer to my head and not my heart are now taking the front seat in my life. Sucks ass, but that's life, I suppose.

Tattoos

Been looking at websites about tattoos, since I am seriously planning on getting one. Not in the near future, though, because a friend of mine who has boatloads of ink on her bod says that it would be really difficult to find a trustworthy and good artist in Jakarta. So I'm going to wait until the time I am able to go back to the trustworthy countries (wherever they are; friend did not specify for fear of insulting segments of the world's population).

I'm thinking of getting these for tattoos one day. One at a time, of course.

I definitely want my Japanese family crest on me:

And I also want a red dragonfly resting on some sort of plant, like so:

Also the words "vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore" somewhere and done in loopy Victorian font. It means "I lived for art, I lived for love" and it's from the opera TOSCA by PUCCINI. Definitely one of my favorites.

I want a Japanese crane in a flying position.

And lastly, I want "Benny Boy" tattooed on me, because he's the love of my life. Yes, my dog is the guy I'm in love with right now.... Partly sad, but.. hey, better to have loved a living creature than to never have loved at all.

Brain dead

Phrases I've heard uttered this week and things that are on my mind:

Access and benefit sharing.

The connection between WTO, IMF, and the World Bank.

"You should know the forest before knowing the trees."

"Roberto Bolle gives my crotch heat strokes."

"What's that movie where Monica Bellucci gets raped? Yeah... I need a Bible"

"WAKE UP"

.... the Indian version of I Will Survive is pretty hawt.

Friggly Fruck

After talking to my brother on Skype (he's in NYC and I'm in Jakarta, so online chatting is way cheaper than phoning), I realize that I have no home, and what I mean by home is a place to which I feel an inborn connection. Sort of like a Wonder Years kind of feeling where one goes to prom at the end of high school and thinks "yes, this is the place that made me who I am."

I have no such feelings about any place, although I can honestly say that NYC has come the closest so far.

I feel guilty about it, but growing up in different places when I was younger and moving around from one country to the next makes me feel homeless. And cultureless.

Funny to feel like I don't belong anywhere or can click with anyone... it's depressing.

Here's a picture of an ice cream peddler at the National Museum (more commonly known in Jakarta as the Elephant Museum).

Ok, it wasn't that bad

Yeah, I had to wake up earlier than usual on a Saturday, but I ended up having fun on the city tour. I should stop complaining about things before I've experienced them. I think that's a good motto for me this year.
